Youth DJ Program

An introduction to DJing through hands-on instruction, practice, and group collaboration. Students learn with real equipment while building communication and leadership skills.

What students learn

From the first controls to a shared mix.

Sessions combine guided instruction, independent practice, and collaborative activities. The program can be adapted for elementary, middle, and high school groups.

Equipment & music technology

Learn to use DJ controllers, headphones, music software, and the controls behind a mix. Our equipment includes Pioneer DJ DDJ-FLX4 controllers.

Music & mixing

Practice rhythm, tempo, cueing, song selection, and transitions. Guided instruction is followed by time to try the techniques independently.

Collaboration & leadership

Take turns, listen to feedback, make decisions as a group, and practice explaining creative choices.

Creative business & performance

Explore creative identity, branding, professionalism, entrepreneurship, and how to prepare and share a final mix.

Share your interest in a beginner-friendly DJ class hosted directly by Future of Music. It is independent from, and not limited to, any current school or organization partner program.

Experience: No DJ experience required
Schedule: Date, time, and location shared when the class is confirmed
For families: A parent or guardian may complete the form for a child
